Auditions

About the Festival

As of March 12, 2008, we are still accepting tenors & basses for our paid adult chorus for La Boheme. Write to chorus@princetonfestival.org to schedule before March 20th.

At this time, auditions for sopranos, mezzos and children's chorus are complete.

A few roles for Mirette are still open as outlined below. Contact Artistic Director Richard Tang Yuk at rtangyuk@princetonfestival.org.

Adult Chorus for La Bohème

For the audition, singers should prepare 1 selection in Italian and 1 musical theater selection that best demonstrate the singer’s strengths. An accompanist is provided. A complete rehearsal schedule will be handed out at the audition. We will require auditionees to complete a ‘conflict’ form to leave with us at the audition.

Young Stars Showcase Musical “Mirette”

Auditions for roles in the musical “Mirette” will be one and the same for the chorus of La Bohème. Please see audition information above.
Roles in Mirette yet to be cast are:

  • BELLINI A dark, brooding man with a mysterious past.
  • TABAC A juggler and jack-of-all-trades, desperately poor, in his twenties. A boarder at Mme. Gateau's Hotel.
  • MAX A Promoter of talent.

Principal Roles for La Bohème

Managed Artists

The Princeton Festival regularly contacts artists' representatives in the Fall with audition dates and repertory information for the summer season prior to each round of auditions. Artists with representation should contact their representative for information on these auditions. Representatives seeking to receive audition announcements may submit a request as well as information on their roster to The Princeton Festival’s Artistic Director electronically at rtangyuk@princetonfestival.org or to the Festival mailbox via regular mail.

Unmanaged Artists
The Princeton Festival will also hear unmanaged artists for principal roles; however, time for these auditions is usually very limited and will be allocated to artists auditioning for particular roles and with substantial previous performing credits. Repertory is announced in the Fall, as well as which roles are open for auditions. As much as we would like to hear everyone who submits audition materials, it is seldom possible because of time considerations. Selected unmanaged artists will be heard in December 2007 in Princeton.

For consideration for an unmanaged principal artist audition, please submit the following to:

Artistic Director
The Princeton Festival
P.O. Box 2063
Princeton, NJ 08543

  • $20 non-refundable application fee (payable to The Princeton Festival)
  • 8x10 black and white photo
  • Current resume
A live audition is not guaranteed and the application fee will not be refunded if an audition is not granted. Unmanaged artists are kindly requested not to send their materials directly to the Artistic Director by e-mail. Please follow the procedure above.
